Home Modifications

Forever Active specializes in Aging-In-Place Home Solutions. We promote safety and independence within the home environment for all individuals who want to maintain their active lifestyle. We provide products and services that are designed to minimize the impact aging and disability have on quality of life within the home environment.

Studies have shown that over 80% of older Americans want to remain in their own home. Removing some barriers and modifying the home to be free of hazards can allow all with limited abilities to safely live at home and perform activities of daily living independently.

Forever Active’s goal is to help people successfully remain in their home by creating accessible, barrier-free environments. We work alongside licensed general contractors to make sure all the work we do is done with professionalism and up to industry standards. We only employ Certified Aging-In-Place Specialists to do home assessments. Our staff is committed to ensure that all work meets ADA (Americans with Disabilities) and RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America) standards and we are certified by IDEAS (Innovative Designs in Environments for an Aging Society), CEAC (Certified Environmental Access Consultants), and Fall Prevention Center of Excellence.

Our Process:

1. Email/Telephone Call:Our first response will either be to your email or telephone call. During which time we will discuss your anticipated Home Modification needs. We will answer any and all questions you have regarding our products & services. At which point we will determine if an appointment should be made for a FREE home assessment. We encourage you to visit our Safety Guidelines page to perform a simple Fall Prevention checklist.

2. Home Assessment: At this stage, we will meet with you in your home and conduct a visual survey and together determine which Home Modification will benefit you most. Some Home Modifications could be as simple as removing clutter or rearranging furniture to the more complex, such as installing Stair Lifts, Ramps and Grab Bars. All of our home assessments are done by Certified Aging In Place Specialist. Your safety is our first priority.

3. Home Modification Proposal: After the Home Assessment process, we will email/call you with the recommended Home Modification proposals. The proposal will include cost and time estimates. We understand how important time management is, and will work around your schedule and budget.

4. Installation/Remodel Process: After we agree on a schedule & budget, we will begin the installation and/or remodel process with minimal impact for you and your family. Our Certified Aging In Place Specialist will work alongside a licensed contractor to insure that any and all work is done with the utmost professionalism and care.

Our Qualifications:

The C.E.A.C. certification was created to reduce the disparity in training and practice found among professionals who evaluate the environmental access needs of the elderly and physically challenged, and to promote independence and empowerment among the disabled and elderly. The credential was launched to answer the distinct need for formal education, validation and credibility in this rapidly exploding field. Certified professionals gain valuable career enhancement that can be immediately applied to their professional careers.

The Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry—home modifications for aging in place. NAHB Remodelers—in collaboration with the AARP, NAHB Research Center and NAHB 50+ Housing Council—developed this program to provide comprehensive, practical, market-specific information about working with older and maturing adults to remodel their homes for aging in place.

Each certification promotes a standard for recognizing qualifications and validating broad-based knowledge required as the foundation for safe and effective service in the field of assistive technology. These standards aim to enhance service provision to people with disabilities who are seeking technology applications to maximize their ability to function in their environment. The credential achieved through each certification program promotes quality assurance for the consumer, is a source of pride for the service provider, and promotes a standard of professional practice for the field. Thousands of rehabilitation engineers, occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech and hearing pathologists, suppliers, educators and other professionals have been certified.

Innovative Designs in Environments for an Aging Society made possible through a grant through National Institutes of Health provide information about the various conditions that cause limitations or difficulties in performing everyday activities, and information about a range of environmental modifications that can be implemented to compensate for deficits.

The Executive Certificate in Home Modification Program is designed for professionals (e.g. remodelers/contractors, planners, personnel of organizations representing the elderly and people with disabilities, occupational and physical therapists, policymakers) who work directly or indirectly in the field of supportive home environments.
